Sept 27: Nikon has announced a new high-end, fast telephoto prime that promises to be a hit with portrait and wedding photographers as well as those shooting cinematic video: the Nikon NIKKOR Z 135mm Ć’/1.8 S Plena. Buy Now The NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S features a constant f/2.8 aperture, providing sharp images and beautiful bokeh at the sought after 24-70mm zoom range.
The NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 is so compact and lightweight—just 1.8 inches long and weighing 6 oz—you'll forget it's even there. It doesn't extend or retract, so it's always ready. Take it wherever you go as your main walk-around lens or as a lightweight second lens. The Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24–70 F2.8 Asph., meanwhile, is by far the most similar to the Sigma 24–70mm F2.8 in specification, even if it is more than 2.5 times as expensive. Its size and filter threads are identical and its weight only 3% greater than that of the Sigma.
The 24-70mm f/2.8 S is arguably the best zoom lens of that focal range I've seen to date, certainly the best I've fully tested and measured. Despite the 82mm filter ring up front, compared to the F-mount 24-70mm f/2.8E the Z version is shorter (at 24mm, by 1" or 28.5mm) and lighter (by 10 ounces, or 265g).
The 24-70mm f/2.8 S may be fairly large compared to other Nikkor S lenses, but it's balanced well and easy to carry around when traveling. Shot on Nikon Z7 at 43mm, f/6.3, 1/6s, ISO 64. This image . 76 5 361 290 218 55 363 366 128
